The first time you see Mt. Bachelor, don’t be surprised if you gasp a little bit. The ski resort lives atop a dormant volcano and  is absolutely stunning to behold in the distance. As the highest land mass for miles around, the views from atop Mt. Bachelor are equally breathtaking. Mt. Bachelor is part of the infamous Cascade Volcano chain, which runs from Canada into the Pacific Northwest. A handful of these volcanic peaks can be seen from Mt. Bachelor's summit. Ecology and geology enthusiasts will love learning about the science behind Mt. Bachelor’s formation, just as much as they’ll enjoy skiing or riding the resort’s unusual terrain.

With the town of Bend and it's many inns, hotels, boutiques, shops and restaurants a short 22 miles away, a Mt. Bachelor ski vacation meets a wide variety of lodging and budget preferences. Whether you stay in Bend or not, an afternoon or evening in this quaint town is in order, and on the top of your don’t-miss list should be a beer at the famed Deschutes Brewery Bend Public House. For those looking to explore the local forests and get their lungs pumping, Mt. Bachelor offers an exceptional cross country trail system

If what you seek on a ski vacation includes incredible scenery, great snow, tons of distinct terrain and tons of vertical feet, good local beer and a down-to-earth town to explore, then a Mt. Bachelor ski vacation is what you’ll find.

Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort

As you drive up to the resort, you’ll notice how the volcano formed natural halfpipe-like gullies which extend from the summit and wind down into tree level. Designated trails have been cut to match the terrain’s natural flow. You won’t find anything like Mt. Bachelor’s playful trails. Blessed with an annual snowfall of 387 inches, a Mt. Bachelor powder day is unforgettable.

Advanced and expert skiers can experience 60 percent of Mt. Bachelor’s terrain, including the 360-degree skiing from resort’s 9,065-foot summit. Experts Intermediate will have a ball meandering around Mt. Bachelor’s many groomed trails. Intermediate skiers have a plethora of blue runs off of the top of 9,000-foot Summit Chair. Intermediates and expert skiers alike, can ski or ride Mt. Bachelor’s 3,300 vertical feet.  Beginners have tons of options on the East side of the mountain. First time skiers and boarders don’t even need to pay for a lift ticket at Mt. Bachelor, thanks to the area’s complimentary Carrousel lift found near the Sunrise Lodge. Park skiers and boarders are also well represented thanks to the Bachelor Parks area, which features medium and large parks underneath the Skyliner Express. Aspiring jibsters can learn new tricks on the beginner park off of Sunrise. Every skier or boarder, of any level, will truly enjoy the terrain on a Mt. Bachelor ski vacation
